about esyn design

Esyn Design Architecture was established in 2003 as a full service architecture and interior design firm specializing in hospitality, retail, and entertainment design.  Starting with a single project, Esyn Design Architecture has built a portfolio of over 60 completed projects.  In addition to hospitality work, Esyn Design has also completed a number of residential and commercial office projects.  Esyn Design’s scope of services does not end with architectural and interior design, but includes furniture, lighting and product design, graphic design, and artwork.

Although the firm remains small, we have enjoyed an expanding list of great clients and completed hospitality projects including Bohemia House, Bottlefork, Kinmont, Tanta, Ay Chiwowa, Nellcote, Sunda, King Café, Underground, Rockit Bar & Grill, Ivy League Baseball Club and Wrigley Rooftops in Chicago.  Esyn Design has earned an AIA Design Excellence award 2008, as well as being a finalist for the IHM/RS Gold Key Award in 2009.  Our work has been featured in  Hospitality Design, Interior Design Chicago Social, Time Out Chicago, and Chicago Tribune publications and magazines.

The founder and principal of Esyn Design Architecture, William Ewert, has over 20 years of experience within the architecture and interior design profession, with a focus on creative and innovative design in the hospitality and entertainment industries.  William holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Arizona State University, and a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago.  William’s credentials include being a licensed Architect in the State of Illinois,  a LEED Accredited Professional, a Illinois Registered Energy Professional, and a Self-Certified Architect with the City of Chicago Department of Buildings.

Esyn Design’s philosophy is based on the conceptualization of new and innovative ideas to match each client’s business model.  Each new project has an inherent set of criteria that allows the design process to yield creative ways to define program, discover relationships between building design elements, and establish unique identity and presence.  Esyn’s design process, remaining flexible, allows for the conceptualization of ideas to transform and develop throughout a changing project environment.
